The Strategy Remains Only A Plan
Priorities Don’t Turn Into Actions
The Business Runs Haphazardly
During the prioritization phase, the company takes the results from the direct phase and prioritizes work weekly. Coordination and prioritization of activities can take place, for example, during weekly meetings. The meeting agenda comes from the one-page strategy. A modern way to organize everything is to use a digital board, where all the goals are visible. Digital boards work like a whiteboard or a notice board, but everything is inside the computer and thus easily accessible. Digital boards make this scalable and very manageable. The business can easily keep track of changes. People can see everything at a moment’s notice from their desktop, laptop, tablet, or mobile.
The act phase consists of daily actions that come from the prioritization on the digital board. People make hundreds of small choices daily. They sense and respond to changes in the environment. Over time, work practices improve when people abandon that which no longer works. Businesses can also improve practices by writing a gamebook for themselves. When many people need to work together, it’s beneficial to have standard ground rules. One by one, the business completes the goals it set up for itself in the business strategy. It is once again time to update the business strategy. The company goes back to the direct phase, and the business strategy process begins from the very beginning.
